The Place No One Talks About (SPOILERS)

Since I'm getting questions regarding The Place No One Talks About that I've at least technically answered in-strip, here is a collection of links about it, and a couple of spoilers that will eventually be revealed officially, if you want to wait.

It has bad-tasting Tree-fruit, at least as far as male Gnolls are concerned.

Crud says a certain female Gnoll would have been happier going there.

..And he once accidentally visited there himself.

Chunner's sister is/was a "Placette"

Some Finaglers asked Skradt about it.

Shabash could tell that Faddle had been there by his smell.

The Placettes gave Faddle a job, and their reputation is such that Shabash immediately "agreed" to assist him.

The Placettes were able to send some sort of Vision to Carmal.

And yes, this is the Place.

Obviously, despite the name, Gnolls do in fact talk about it. Most other species know very little about it.

The Placettes are the female equivalent of Finaglers, but instead of helping mated couples, they descend to The Place and.. do stuff. A certain regular percentage of the Gnollish population is born to this status, and it's clear early on that this is what a Gnollish whelp will be. Just as Faddle was supposed to be a Finagler, there are females who were supposed to be Placettes but refused to go down there, for one reason or another. Placettes have more power than Finaglers, though it may be a case of their location rather than inherent.

No one in the Basement knows why this happens, including the Gnolls themselves.

All the Finaglers seem to have quiffs and all the Placettes have curls and both lots are all blonde. Is this some innate side-effect of the gene which gives them their special ability, or is it some cosmetic fashion choice involving bleach and curlers? And was Lizshella whom Cully met in the future a Placette?

The color is a natural effect of being a Placette/Finagler, but styles of hair are chosen by an individual Gnoll. (Tho I wouldn't say that all Gnolls with light hair are automatically special.)
